Rabbit


Rabbits are one of the most famous animals in the world. They are often found on local households as pets and commonly known as Bunny. They are small mammals that have a distinguished long ears with certain similarities along with hares and pikas.

A rabbit's ear can measure up to 4 inches long which gives them hearing advantages among other animals on a presence of a predator. They have very strong hind legs which let them leap a few feet in air whenever excited or moving away from danger.
 
A full grown rabbit can measure from 8 inches to 20 inches in length. With a weigh ranging from 500 grams to 2 kilograms. They have soft furs usually in shades of white, while there are a number with shades of black, brown and gray.
 
A Brown Rabbit
Rabbits use their famous large sets of front teeth in incising food. They are a natural herbivore which includes leaves and ground fruits as their staple food. They are considered as pests on other countries as they devour vegetation among local agriculture.

Majority of the rabbit's population can be found in North America. The other numbers are widely distributed in Europe, Asia and some parts of South America. They found their habitat in forests, grasslands, wetlands and meadows; They are also reported to be found in deserts and usually dwell on underground burrows or what it is commonly called "rabbit holes".

A doe or the female rabbit is ready to mate at 5 months old. A buck or the male can mate at 6 months old. Gestation period will take up to 31 days. Young rabbits are called kits. The kits can be weaned away from their mother after 6 weeks.
